The Father Thomas Alan Rooney Memorial Hospital (FTARMH) is in dire need of modern medical equipment for efficient and quality healthcare delivery.
The One Hundred and Thirteen (113) bed capacity hospital was built from the generous contribution of Seven Hundred and Seventy Seven people to Mercy Fund in October 1954. Due to increasing pressure on its services, the medical equipment have dilapidated.
Due to the dysfunctional state of its equipment, certain basic medical procedures cannot be performed in the facility. The only Ultra sound machine is out of use and beyond repairs. Also, the maternity ward is conducting deliveries with only a single delivery bed which is corroded and bended, making it a discomfort for both midwives and expectant mothers.
The team of surgeons and nurses at the hospital’s theatre have had to improvise and work under strenuous conditions to carry out surgical procedures. Cases are referred from Enchi, Samraboe, Bibiani and other private hospitals to the FTARMH.
Fr. Philip Kofi Erzuah, Acting Administrator of the hospital, said management has made frantic effort to procure the needed tools to facilitate the work of the various cadre of staff and to ensure the delivery of quality care but will need the support of both private and public spirited individuals and organizations to assist them.
The hospital is in dire need of Autoclaves, Operating Lights, Suction Machines, Anesthetic Machines and Operating Beds.
