Anita Appiah

(Specialist)

Dr. Anita Appiah joined the Health Directorate as the Coordinator, Community and Institutional Care in January 2015. In this role, she leads the unit to support the provision of comprehensive and quality healthcare that is safe in the most effective and efficient way to meet patient and population expectations in the National Catholic Health Service.

In this capacity she has led a number of projects including, Surgical Safety Project in the Cape Coast Archdiocese, MAF Project within the NCHS and EPN/DTC Project at Catholic Hospital, Bator. Currently coordinates the Novonordisk Diabetes Support Care within the NCHS and the Interpractice 21st Century Preterm Growth Monitoring Tools research at the Holy Family Hospital, Techiman.

She has also facilitated several staff capacity building activities and participated in National and International Conferences.

Dr. Appiah earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology in 2003 at the University for Development Studies and Medical degree in 2006 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Dr. Appiah again pursued a postgraduate degree in Public Health and majored in Health Services Planning and Management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She has a certificate in Reproductive Health and Rights Research from the Geneva Foundation of Medical Education and Research.  She is a trained Quality Improvement Coach and Patient Safety Coach by the Institute of Healthcare Improvement.

She is a Member of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. Her interest is in Epidemiology of emerging diseases and Patient Safety.
